Why it’s effective
01.
Investing in Infrastructure
With a focus on reducing fuel consumption, Universal Production Services permanently upgraded electrical infrastructure, allowing large generators to be eliminated from stage sets and the backlot. Where grid power was inaccessible, small generators were replaced with batteries and hybridized generators that prioritized the use of renewable diesel (HVO).
02.
Reducing Waste & Giving Back
The production eliminated single-use plastics from catering with reusable and compostable items. At wrap, donations were made back to the local community including fabric and other costume pieces, over 2,200 lbs of lumber, and 50 large boxes of fresh fruit and vegetables, with 2 additional truckloads of lumber sent to other productions. Even the stunning backdrop at The Globe was upcycled to create unique and meaningful cast and crew wrap gifts.
03.
Traveling Smart
Hybrid and electric vehicles were often used for cast and crew transport which avoided hundreds of gallons of fuel, and train travel was prioritised in lieu of domestic flights in the UK.
